The Rest of March

This month has been pretty relaxing for Fancy. His vacation has mostly been spent inside due to muddy conditions in our paddocks, but he's enjoying afternoon naps in his fresh sawdust, going for hand walks/grazings and short longe line sessions, and playing with his turnout buddies in the indoor arena. He's looking sound and sane, and I'm excited to start him back under saddle in a few weeks or so.

He discovered very quickly that horse cookies and carrots are delicious, and he's always begging for attention. The lesson kids have been a great help bringing him out of his shell and turning him into a cookie monster. I've been grooming him in his stall and in crossties, working on ground manners, pulling/thinning his mane, clipping whiskers, etc. I think his favorite thing to do is to go for a good roll, and I often have to groom him twice because of his "stop, drop, and roll" antics. Today we spent about an hour in the sun, just quietly grazing and enjoying the weather. And of course, he went for a roll or two before heading back inside for dinner.
